For Globe, the latest production of theatre company Close Act, VOXL motion | design created motion visuals and videomapping. A 52 foot tall metal 'sphere of the world' sets the stage for this spectacular performance . Actors, dancers and acrobats climb, play and fly through and around the sphere like careless children.
"Globe visualises the art of liberty and proves flying to be supreme happiness. The spectacle depicts the childlike imagination as an instrument enabling one to fly."
Custom designed and produced imagery is projected onto a large projection screen which is attached to the sphere.
The use and added value of videomaterial in the unique stage composition of the performance was already clear beforehand. VOXL motion | design, in cooperation with MMXI, supplemented to the original story in a process of sampling and designing moving images to be projected during the performance.
Software is used to map the images to the concave projection screen using a single projector with a very short lens. In that way, the performers and the projector beam will never interfere with one another.
